The Bespoke Jacket Intensive is a unique summer opportunity for anyone who would like to immerse themselves in the art of tailoring and experience the satisfaction of completing a garment within a focused and supportive studio environment. Over nine days, learners will be guided through every stage of creating a bespoke jacket, from taking measurements and drafting a personalised pattern to cutting, fitting, construction and finishing. With dedicated studio time and expert supervision throughout the process, participants can fully engage with each stage of the journey while developing valuable tailoring skills and confidence. Designed for both enthusiastic beginners and those seeking to build on their existing sewing experience, this intensive masterclass offers the opportunity to focus on a single project, enjoy the creative process, and make the most of the summer period, when many learners have greater flexibility in their schedules. By the end of the programme, each participant will leave with a beautifully finished, custom-fitted jacket and a deeper understanding of bespoke garment construction techniques that can be applied to future projects.

✦ How the Course is Structured
The individaul support provided in each session will give you an oppurtunit learn better. Every day is not the same but there is an dedicated time each day to consulidate the [revious session. Tutor also will make a simialr garment along the way that will enhance learners’ enthusiasm. This unhurried, pressure-free pace is what makes our workshop in Edinburgh different.
Class sizes are limited to a maximum of 6 learners to ensure every participant receives sufficient hands-on guidance and personal attention. Whether this is your first sewing class in Edinburgh or you’re returning after years away, you will be supported at every stage.

Do I need sewing experience??
Some prior sewing experience is required. However, this is an intensive masterclass, and learners will benefit from having some familiarity with using a sewing machine and following basic sewing instructions. The course is suitable for enthusiastic beginners, as well as those wishing to build on existing sewing experience. Throughout the programme, you will receive guidance and support at every stage, from taking measurements and drafting your bespoke pattern to constructing and finishing your jacket.

What will I make during the course?
During the masterclass, you will create a bespoke jacket tailored to your own measurements. Learners may choose between two jacket styles: a Circle Collar Jacket or a Pointed Collar Jacket.Starting with accurate body measurements, you will draft your pattern from scratch, create and refine the fit, and then construct your garment using professional tailoring techniques. By the end of the programme, you will leave with a fully finished jacket that has been designed, drafted and made by you throughout the course.

Are materials included?
All essential studio equipment and pattern drafting materials are provided, including access to sewing machines, pressing equipment and specialist tailoring tools.Learners are responsible for purchasing their own fabric and any optional trims, allowing them to personalise their jacket and choose materials that reflect their individual style. Guidance on suitable fabrics and required quantities will be provided before the start of the masterclass.

How many students are in each class?
To ensure every learner receives personalised guidance and support, places on the masterclass are intentionally limited. Each group is kept small, with a maximum of 6 participants.This allows plenty of opportunity for one-to-one assistance throughout the pattern drafting, fitting and construction stages, helping learners progress confidently through their projects.
